Lectures, online learning and practical’s usually include material on:
NHS strategy and national guidelines.
behavioural change in patients with COPD.
inpatient management of patients with chronic lung disease.
acute care management of hospitalised patients with COPD.
rehabilitation for the non-COPD respiratory patient.
adjuncts to pulmonary rehabilitation (respiratory muscle training, non-invasive positive pressure ventilation, supplementary oxygen).
challenges in delivering pulmonary rehabilitation.
the influence of respiratory and peripheral muscle function on exercise capacity in COPD.
palliative care for patients with chronic lung disease.
COPD in the community.
exercise testing and prescription of exercise in pulmonary rehabilitation.
Teaching, structure and assessment
The course will next run from 31 May to 7 June 2017.
You'll need to be a qualified physiotherapist, with a degree in physiotherapy at least equivalent to 2:2 BSc qualification in the UK.
You can take it as:
a standalone short course for CPD purposes (with certificate of attendance)
a 'taster module' earning UCL credits.
The taster module will be assessed by a 2,500 word case study assignment.
