Description

This session looks at how Thinking Skills approaches can transform how teachers think about differentiation and formative assessment. We will explore the use of multi-sensory starter activities and consider how these can support pupils with a range of special educational needs.

We will look at the Communication Supporting Classroom Observation Tool to consider the ways in which we can support peer dialogue and other types of oral communication in the classroom and link this to the role played by teaching assistants through open-questioning and formative feedback.

We will conclude by looking at some downloadable resources from the Maximising the Impact of Teaching Assistants research to help schools monitor and assess the role of teaching assistants in the classroom.

The course lecturer will be Dr. Amelia Roberts, Deputy Director of UCL Centre for Inclusive Education.

This course will take place on Wednesday 24th January 2018 from 9:00am to 12:00pm at UCL Institute of Education, Emerald Street, London, WC1N 3QS.

Course fee: £89
