Description

Who is this course for?

The school system places emphasis on children needing to develop fluent and legible handwriting. However, a number of children are known to present with handwriting difficulties. This twilight session is designed for teachers, SENCos and Senior Leaders seeking to better understand the nature of a handwriting difficulty. The focus will be on primary-aged children (EYFS through to Key Stage 2).

What is covered?

This session will introduce attendees to a theoretical background of handwriting development and the processes involved while handwriting. Research evidence will be presented in conjunction with theory and provides a basis for discussion of assessing handwriting difficulties and methods of support.

Outcomes:

Attendees will leave with a full awareness of factors that can influence handwriting and an increased understanding of how to support handwriting difficulties in the classroom.

This short course is run by Dr Emma Sumner and takes place from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday 5th December 2017.
