Why does the University need to collect and store personal data?
As part of the services we provide through the Onlinestore and UCLeXtend site, we need to collect personal data so we can get in touch, or provide a service to you. We always try to make sure the information we collect is correct and is not an invasion of your privacy.
We may pass your personal data onto the people who provide other essential services in connection with the Onlinestore and UCLeXtend site, for example completion of orders, delivery of products or services and processing of payments. These providers are obliged to keep your details securely, and use them only to fulfil your request. If you have provided the University with sensitive information (for example in relation to racial or ethnic origin; religious or other beliefs of a similar nature; physical or mental health or condition; sexual life; offences (including alleged offences)) AND the University wishes to pass your sensitive personal data onto a third party, we will only do so once we have obtained your consent.
How the University uses your information
The University will process (that means collect, store and use) the information you provide in a manner that is compatible with the Data Protection Act 1998.
We will endeavour to keep your information accurate and up to date and not keep it for longer than is necessary. In some instances the law sets the length of time information has to be kept, but in most cases the University will use its discretion to ensure that we do not keep records outside of our normal business requirements - i.e. providing a service to you.
We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

• To provide you with information or to enable or assist us to provide products or services that you order from us or which we feel may interest you (e.g. registration/participation on courses).
• To process and record any payments you make.
• To carry out our obligations arising from any order placed with us.
