This latest volume in the UCL SSEES Studies inRussiaand Eastern Europe series is a collection of papers by mainly younger Romanian scholars who participated in the International Medieval Congress at Leeds in 2012, together with several others, under the broad theme Government and Law in Medieval Moldavia, Transylvania and Wallachia.
The majority of the contributors come from Transylvania and the Banat, and this preponderance is reflected in the topics that they address. The essays provide not only an introduction to some of the themes of medieval Romanian history but also an indication of current trends in Romanian historiography and of the accomplishments of a new generation of historians.
