To bring together the expertise of clinicians and researchers from a diverse range of disciplines so that they can deliver excellence and innovation in research, clinical practice, education and training in order to make a real and sustainable difference to women's and babies’ health locally, nationally and worldwide.

We have four research departments, and a commitment to global health runs through all our research. We believe that impactful research requires researchers to engage directly with women and patients and we have expertise in qualitative research

Critical Care Workshop

D11 Workshop: Critical Care Conversations In Neonatal Medicine November 2023

Description

This 2-day workshop helps individuals develop conversation skills when approaching parents to talk about bad news and redirection of care for their baby. At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Identify the unique impact of critical care conversations and decisions about their baby for parents and their families.
  • Understand the long-term impact of communication.
  • Understand the key elements of communicating sensitively and effectively with parents to allow them to express their own concerns and perspectives freely.
  • Feel confident in facilitating joint decision making.
  • Identify self-care and learning development needs.
  • Be self-aware in all communication with parents & families.

Core Target Audience:

Neonatal Consultants, Consultant Paediatricians with Neonatal Interest, Associate Specialist/Specialty Doctors in Neonatal Medicine, Senior Paediatric/Neonatal Trainees, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (ANNPS) and Senior Neonatal Nurses.

RCPCH Educational CPD approval granted.
