Course objectives

 

  • Raise awareness of safety issues and current Health & Safety legislation
  • To increase your confidence about your responsibilities
  • To help you become more aware of the full range of CLEAPSS services and advice
  • To consider and practise risk assessments for technician activities
  • To explore what “managing safely” means in practice for technicians.

 

Teaching and structure

 

This course is delivered as part discussion and part practical workshop.

 

Participants must bring a laptop, iPad or computer tablet to this course.  It must be able to connect to the internet and access the CLEAPSS website.

 

During the course, the following will be covered: 

 

  • Sharing common Health & Safety concerns and identifying possible solutions;
  • Health and safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and its subsequent regulations;
  • Legal bans, myths and rumours;
  • Risk assessment in general, and personal risk assessment for technician activities;

Searching the CLEAPSS website to find health & safety information relevant to technician activities.
