Dates: 2 half-days - 10 & 17 November 2026, 9am to 1pm, lunch provided. Location TBC

Summary: ICH and IOE researchers and public members are pleased to announce a new public member-led course on Public Engagement and Involvement for NIHR grant applications.

This free course is designed for researchers and research teams who are developing, supporting, or planning NIHR funding applications. It will provide practical guidance on how to design meaningful, realistic, and well-supported public engagement and involvement plans.

The sessions will cover:

• Models of public engagement and involvement, from consultation to co-production
• NIHR expectations and the role of PPIE across the research cycle
• Power, representation, inclusivity, and public leadership
• Practical examples from UCL research
• Designing realistic PPIE plans, including governance, recruitment, communication, support, payment, and impact
• How to move towards good practice in PPIE at UCL

Places will be limited to 10–12 participants to support discussion, reflection, and practical group work (lunch included).
