DescriptionThe in-person only course will examine the contemporary global political economy as a complex system, facing historically rooted ‘grand challenges’, including the legacies of colonialism, climate change and ecological crises, challenges around productivity, growth, wages, and inequality, and the relationship between investment, financial markets, and financial and political instability. The course will ask the question—what do we mean by capitalism, and what COULD we mean? The course combines academic lectures from some of the world’s leading new economic thinkers with policy lectures from leading policymakers and influencers.
