UCL Institute of Ophthalmology (D08)D08 Summer School in Ophthalmology 2025DescriptionIf you are thinking about a career in ophthalmology, The UCL Institute of Ophthalmology Summer School is the perfect way to explore the possibilities. The Ophthalmology Summer School is a five-day course presented by leading consultant ophthalmologists and clinical scientists from Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. Between the two organisations we have some of the world's most prominent lecturers in pure science and in ophthalmology. The course will cover current clinical and ground-breaking scientific aspects of the discipline. It will start with an introduction to Ophthalmology, structure and function of the eye, clinical history-taking and a broad range of clinical ophthalmology and cutting-edge research. As well as lectures, there will be practical sessions to give you a basic introduction to the clinical sciences allied to ophthalmology. There will also be a session on the residency application process and how to make your application stand out. There is also an opportunity to prepare a poster, with a prize on offer for the best. Summer school is aimed at anybody who is considering a career as an ophthalmologist, including late-stage medical students and trainee doctors. It attracts an international audience from as far afield as Australia. 60 places are available to attend in-person at our Training Centre nearby to Moorfields Eye Hospital.
