DescriptionTwenty years ago the European Psychoanalytic Federation (EPF) created a project inspired by the realization that many years of meetings and conferences had largely not succeeded in enabling psychoanalysts to share with each other what they do in their consulting rooms. More InformationDescribed by Otto Kernberg as “a penetrating, objective and fair description...that upgrades...the level of controversial discussions”, by Antonino Ferro as “a ground-breaking must read..” and by Ron Britton as “an admirable, heroic, rigorous, sustained effort...”, the heart of the book is the presentation of a common shareable framework devised by the authors to bring out and compare different practices. Questions about different approaches to the psychoanalytic situation, how the “otherwise inaccessible” ideas patients have are to be inferred, how those “otherwise inaccessible” ideas and impulses repetitively create a patient’s troubles, and how the process brings about change are asked in turn. They lead to eleven practical questions for every analyst – questions to be asked about their work after any session they care to review.
