Description

Session 2: Grenfell, the BSA and the future of fire safe design

In the second lecture of the series, Professor José Torero is joined by Dr Michael Woodrow, Programme Director of the MArch in Fire Safe Design, to examine the Grenfell Tower fire and its enduring implications for architectural practice.

This session will explore why many critical lessons continue to be overlooked and what they reveal about systemic issues in fire safety. The lecture will also unpack the new responsibilities imposed by the Building Safety Act 2022, highlighting the significant shift in accountability for architects. The speakers will discuss the need for a new mindset in practice – one that guards against inadvertently assuming liability in the absence of a comprehensive professional competency framework.

Certificates of attendance will be issued to all participants.

Please note that this seminar will run from 18.00 until 19.30.
